March Madness

I am so happy to be back with you guys! March was truly a month of craziness, but I made it to the other side. I think it will only take me back to a place of stress and unrest to recount all that March entailed, so I will say this, REST is key. Not a nap, not a shut eye, not one’s night’s sleep — holistic rest. I 100% dropped the ball on this in March and I felt it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t know what I didn’t know so I had to be gentle with myself, but.. it’s hard to be gentle with yourself when you’re cranky. From this experience though, I’ve learned to be more self - aware and not make any major decisions until I am rested spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

I’ve even created a self-assessment that you can use for yourself. If you find yourself unusually stressed or in a rut, ask yourself these questions. If you answer “Yes” more than “No”, take some time to intentionally schedule various forms of rest then act upon it.

  1. Are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired (H.A.LT)?

  2. Have you had a balanced nutrient dense meal this week?

  3. Ladies…is Aunt Flo in town? Is she dropping off or picking up any eggs?

  4. Have I slept for at least 8 consecutive hours over the past three days?

  5. Has my screen time increased more than usual?

  6. Have I experienced overstimulation from loud events, a buzzing watch, or any sort of crowded room?

  7. Has something recently traumatic or highly emotional occurred recently? Have I began to process it?

  8. Have I had healthy conversation this week?

  9. Have I moved my body in a non-stressful way this week?

  10. Have I spent time in daily prayer, gratitude, scripture reading, and or/ worship?
