Why Meal Planning Helps

Imagine this, you just got home after extra long day at work. You take off your shoes, throw your mail on the counter and hit the couch. After about 15 minutes of just existing, you realize, “I’m hungry". You go in the fridge and alongside the exact ingredients to your next meal, is your completed dinner. You grab it, go back to your spot on the couch and devour it. That sounds nice right?

More often than not, people think “That’s the dream.” or “I could never.” but the reality, we would all love to be greeted with a home cooked meal when we get home.

Pause — I know this content reaches people of all age groups and backgrounds. I understand. I am a 26 year single woman who lives on a moderate income. I don’t have kids, dogs, a lizard, a fish …nothing. However, though your circumstance may not be identical to mine, you can take these principles and tailor it to your needs. If you have questions how, book a consultation with me.

Let’s get back to this dream. I want to assure you, this can be your reality. Why am I so sure of this? Here are three reasons.

  1. It takes the frustration out of figuring out what you’re going eat every single day. You have the opportunity to divert your mental energy to other priorities such as your kids, your pets, hobbies or self-care.

  2. It forces you to make conscious decisions about what foods you will eat. You desire to eat right, but in a moment hanger, your brain is fried and you’re not thinking about preparing a nutrient dense meal. A meal plan offers guidance consistent with your desires.

  3. It saves time. I spend less than 1 hour a week creating a meal plan and grocery list. One devoted hour, saves me hours of energy throughout the week. It’s a low pressure time where I can focus on where I am in my health, journey where I want to be and what foods help me get there.

  4. It’s a creative way to save money. Everyone loves to save dollar or two. Meal planning can save hundreds of dollars. How many random sauces and spices do you have that you haven’t used since that one recipe that one time? Meal planning gives you the space to be creative with what’s in your kitchen before you purchase more products.

If you like a frustration free meal time experience, try meal planning either breakfast, lunch or dinner for an entire week and document how it has made a difference.

If you're ready to take the next step, write down a weekly meal plan based on the groceries you have at home and create your grocery list based solely on what you need.

You got this and I know you will experience positive rewards from this!
