The Only Declaration of Independence You Need
Ealier this month, we celebrated the day in which America truly became an independent nation. I can imagine the feeling that rushed through the veins of those vying for freedom from the control of another nation. Have you ever experienced the excitement of freedom? I have, but it wasn’t just because my country reigned victorious in war, it was because my God reigned victorious over death.
The Word of God is very clear that eternal freedom is found in Jesus Christ alone. Here are a few scriptures that you too have access to freedom.
Psalm 119:45 I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
Acts 13:38-39 Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
Romans 6:22-23 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Bible is the only “declaration of independence” that we need. Have you accepted your freedom today? If not, pray this prayer with me.
Dear God, I admit that I am a sinner and I need a Saviour. I believe you lived, you died, and you rose again so my relationship with you can be restored. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.
